Dev Murphy received her BA in English from The University of Akron and an MA in English Literature from Ohio University. Her writing and art have appeared or are forthcoming in The Guardian, Diagram, Pithead Chapel, The Cincinnati Review, Tarpaulin Sky, and elsewhere. She lives in Pittsburgh with her cat, Nick.

Statement
In “On Sacredness,” writer Dev Murphy attempts to understand the meaning and purpose of relics and
sacred things. She explores Christian theological, art historical, academic, literary, and pop cultural resources
and presents a magpie’s nest of findings alongside her own personal reflections on holiness. Her conclusions
remain vague.
